Virgo New Moon 2022
This month’s new Moon is on August 27 4:17 AM EST at 04 degrees Virgo. The New Moon makes a mutable square to Mars in Gemini. Both Virgo and Gemini are ruled by Mercury. Gemini gathers info. Virgo analyzes and organizes so we can makes sense of that info and put it to use. Mars will be in Gemini until March 26, 2023. Normally, Mars takes about 5 weeks to move through a sign but due to a slowdown into a retrograde cycle starting on October 30, we’ll be living with Mars in Gemini for quite some time. Back to our Virgo new Moon. Virgo is a transitional archetype – the sixth sign of the zodiac. It reviews what we’ve been up to in the internally focused signs of Aries through Leo. We take time to see what we’ve learned, what we have assimilated, how we’ve been building, learning, communicating, creating, and caring for ourselves thus far this year – and throughout our lives. We note what has been working, what is still working, and what has outlived its usefulness. We keep what we like and leave the rest when in Virgo. We can appreciate who we are and how we’ve been. We can do this without harsh judgement or self criticism. It has all been grist for the mill. Mercury is in Libra so our attention is finding a balance between attention to the self, and inward focus — and attention on others and the focus on the outer. Uranus, the higher octave of Mercury, has started a retrograde cycle in Taurus that will continue until Early 2023. We are doing a deep look and revamp of how we value ourselves and what we value in our lives. All of the outer planets are now retrograde. As we approach the Equinox, attention is drawn further inward to help to prepare for the seasonal shift. We reflect, review, repair, restore, rewrite, and resurrect where and when needed – on all levels. Rejoicing can also be on the table here. This is a new Moon of the mind. We can change our point of view and opinion on any situation at any time. Where is the upside? How can I turn my attention to how things are working out for the good? How can I then focus on what I do want? Sometimes the mind just needs to be redirected like a toddler given a wooden spoon and a pot to drum on. When unsettled, turning the attention to any small task or diversion- the dishes, sewing on a button, cleaning out one drawer, can reframe the whole mindset. Virgo energy is practical. It is the example of good orderly direction. It likes to laugh and have fun. Virgo may be ruled by Mercury, but it is an Earth sign – a mutable Earth sign. It can help us get unstuck by allowing us to find new routes to take, new practices to learn, a different procedure that can be more fun and more efficient. Virgo is associated with healing and health. It is also associated with purification. As we prepare for the Equinox it is a good time to see where you the body and mind would like to release thoughts and practices that no longer serve. This makes way for upgrades to our system that allow us to operate at a higher and more satisfying level. Walk on the Earth in bare feet. Find the flower, the fruit, the fly that catches the attention and allow it to hold the attention for a moment or two. We are creatures on the Earth plane going about our business as these other living beings do. We are growing, moving, changing just as they are. Experiencing the similarity and the familiarity with other living entities can calm the nervous system and give a relief and a clarity at this time. Virgo is fun. Virgo invites changes of heart and mind and routine. Virgo can bring the freedom offered by release of habits, thoughts and things. Virgo marks a time of transition. Take time to make ready for the shifts that are already in motion. That time is now. Lots of love, Lydia www.soulastro.com [email protected]

AQUARIUS FULL MOON
AUGUST 11 9:35 PM EST The August Full Moon is at 19 degrees 21 minutes Aquarius. Saturn is close to a conjunction of the moon at 22 degrees. The Leo Sun and the full Moon make a pretty close square to the powerful Uranus/ North Node and Mars conjunction. Mars has moved away a bit at 25 Taurus. All of it is close enough to have an effect at the full Moon. Aquarius wants liberation. Saturn in Aquarius wants liberation from traditional timelines, systems, and fear. The Leo and Aquarius axis asks the individual as creative entity how it relates to the collective – Aquarius. How do we each do our own thing and how, when, if, and to what extent do we bring it to the group? Aquarius is the collective higher mind of Mercury. I picture it as a cloud of information and genius that hovers above and around us. Some reach up and pull a bit of that genius information down to the minds of the earth plane. Sometimes that genius information is delivered to us as a flash of lightning-like inspiration. Some know things way before others and are ostracized for speaking it out… maybe even vilified for saying what is beyond the collective acceptance. Now, as we enter more and more into what is called the Age of Aquarius, more people are gaining information and awareness together. Sharing of ideas, concepts, and actual experiences on Social media are speeding this up. We can choose what we want to explore. We can choose what abilities we want to develop. All along the way, we must engage and strengthen our individual discernment muscles to make sure that what we are taking on board rings true for each of us. Shine the light of the Sun on information that is coming our way. Run it through the wisdom of the individual heart to see if what we see and hear makes sense to us. The wise heart is a muscle that will guide us rightly on our way the more we exercise and trust it. Venus, ruler of Taurus – our value system and ruler of Libra – our ability to see all sides of an issue – moves into Leo on the day of the full Moon. Venus has a close relationship to the Heart – what we value, what we want to keep safe, what we find to be beautiful. When moving from the energy of creative Self into the energy of the Whole- how and when and how much we want to engage – we can ask ourselves some questions. Does this engagement – or the idea of it – make me feel better? Does it align with my values? Do I need to go back and check on my values again to see how they may have shifted? Will it be fun? Is it for the common good? Is it for my good? Will I feel invigorated or depleted from the interaction? Does it suit my personal creative goals? Uranus, ruler of this full Moon in Aquarius, is in Taurus until April 2026. So, as a group, we are examining our value systems and what we do value for quite some time. Uranus holds sway over long-term memory. It also is in charge of the unconscious with which we have some connection through memory or through dreams or nudges from the voice within. The Aquarius full Moon is a good time to use all of the senses and tools we have developed to utilize the personal lightning rod that connects us to our Higher Mind. It connects us to the Higher Self that is always with us, wants to connect with us, and wants to help us on our way. Through daily practice that invites the Heart/Mind connection we have a stronger conduit through which the Higher Self can communicate to us as individuals. Flashes of insight, inspiration, and genius are more easily noticed, assimilated, and put to good use when that connection is strong, attended to, and kept in good order. When it is a normal part of the life to receive guidance, inspiration and intuitive information, it becomes as reliable as the senses of vision, hearing and touch. The other senses work so well because we use them every day. We expect that they will work. We rely on them. We can come to rely on our internal compass in that same way. Aquarius energy is all about individuation. It is all about being our own guru. It is by joining with the Higher Self and the still small voice within to find one’s own way - one’s own sense of value - one’s own validation – and one’s own Truth. It is a creative journey, and the Sun of the Heart guides the way. Love, Lydia www.soulastro.com [email protected] |
