LIBRA FULL MOON 2018
BLUE MOON A blue moon just means we have two full moons in a month. Since astrology doesn’t follow the Gregorian calendar, it’s not too big of a deal. What is a big deal is our first Full Moon of the astrological new year. We start the year with the Sun in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, the initiator. Aries is a cardinal masculine (read:outgoing) sign. Fiery and ruled by Mars, it runs headlong into the breach, the fray, the next adventure. It may look to see if it’s mates are by its side, or struggling behind to keep up. It may have summered the peak before it realizes its on its own. The full Moon is in Aries’ polarity, Libra. Libra is also cardinal and masculine. It is an air sign— of the mind. Aries begins with action. Libra begins to relate. Libra wants to learn who it is by relating with others, and the world. On any given day, we are somewhere on the continuum between Aries and Libra – sometimes leading, sometimes following. Sometimes we are even side by side. Venus, Libra’s ruler, just moved into Taurus. Venus rules Taurus, as well. Venus in Taurus is going to move a bit more slowly in getting to know others. It is a bit reclusive and it is a bit set in it’s ways. It can be enticed our if it’s day to day routine with beautiful smelling food, flowers, views, and plenty of time to get ready to go. Already we see how we begin to relate in Libra. I like to be spontaneous, they like some notice. I like a bit of daring and excitement. They like to feel safe. I like to gab during the movie. They are hyper-focused on plot and scenery. I like to eat before the film, they say that makes them bloated. With a Libra full Moon we see how we relate, how we feel about each relationship and what we think about each relationship. Libra is an air sign and they do filter through the mind. Aries Sun filters less. It burns with fire and that fire propels. The fire is its instinct and it says go! It says Yes! It says Let’s! We want to express ourselves in action as individual entities in Aries. I AM HERE! We want to see who we are through the reflection and experience of others on Libra. You say yes, I say no! Just to see what it feels like, and what it defines about us, we see saw. We argue, we compare, we even sometimes join in. If Aries is the baby of the zodiac, then Libra is the baby at relating. It can be stubborn, it can want it’s own way. It may try on all kinds of tactics to see how it takes— or doesn’t- with the others in its sphere. Libra wants to experience others to gather information about itself. Mercury continues retrograde motion in Aries until April 15 – the same day as the Aries new Moon. We can pause, and reflect, at least a tiny bit more than Aries might normally do, to se where we want to head. With Mars, Aries’ ruler, in Capricorn, we can check our timing. If I set out tomorrow instead of today will the weather be a bit more fair? Will I have a bit more time to set my itinerary, for example, and get a good night’s sleep? We want to rattle the inner foundations and see where screws fall loose. We may see that the way we have built our relationships to ourselves and others calls for some realignment. Meditation on what feels good to us in the here and now will help us to see ways in which we can reshape our alliances. Retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio asks for inner transformative expansion. Jupiter wants to help guide us by the intuitive voice within. The Sun in Aries runs in part, on instinct. The tulip bulb knows when to sprout, the urge to grow and change and seek that which nurtures is instinctual. The cardinal signs begin again and again and again as a reminder that we are always learning and making adjustments. We grow out of clothes as we get bigger. Our tastes change, our dreams and goals evolve as we gain experience. This is a great time for a check in to see if the world we have created for ourselves still fits. A half size difference in a shoe can make all the difference between pinching and pure comfort. Leaving a party 30 minutes earlier can give us that much more sleep and a more comfortable tomorrow Adding one vegetable a day to the diet and eating one less mouthful of chips can truly increase health.. Walking 20 minutes more and watching 20 minutes less of tv can reorient the whole life. Starting again can be gentle. It can easily fit into our routine. It can reorient the whole life. Begin and begin again. Lots of love, Lydia www.soulastro.com [email protected]

PISCES NEW MOON 2018
Ah, Pisces. You bring the astrological wheel of the year to a close. You bring us to the depths of our yearning to be with the Source of All that is… the infinite, etcetera. You want to rejoice. You want to relax and regroup. You want to dream so long into the night that it’s afternoon. You want to transform, transmute and allow yourself to be the droplet in an ocean of other droplets. The Pisces New Moon is the last new Moon of the astrological year. The new astrological year starts on the Equinox March 20th when the Sun enters Aries. The Pisces new Moon is a time of completion. Pisces holds the energy and experience of all 12 signs of the zodiac. It is a mutable water sign that invites us to review the 12 month-long journey around the wheel of the year. Dreams hopes wishes and desires are all Neptune’s domain. It’s a good time to review how you attracted that which you dreamed up and desired this past year. Some dreams may remain in the heart and mind. Are they still desires you want to surface as reality? Would you prefer to let them be pulled back out to sea to make space for new wishes? Disillusionment is part of the Pisces spectrum. Allow time for disappointment if you like, but the disillusioned state does highlight that which may not warrant further attention. Pisces can get moodily drawn down into the weeds. It is all grist for the mill to rest and retreat. New Moons are great for retreating and resting. The Pisces new Moon 🌚 is one which is a huge mental, spiritual, emotional “Phew!” Allowing the feeling of the past year’s imagined and actual experiences and sensations to wash over us is one way to honor the event. We may experience a a variety of emotions as we do. Luckily, the mutable nature of Pisces can flick its fishy tail and move to clear and sunny waters when it has reviewed, reminisced and released enough. Concurrent with the new Moon, Mars enters Capricorn where it will remain until mid May. We desire to give action to new endeavors. We want to give form and definition in our lives and have authority over our actions. Jupiter turned retrograde on March 8th at 23 degrees Scorpio, and will continue retrograde motion until July 10. This is a time of inner transformation and expansion. It is a time to deepen the relationship with our inner voice, the intuitive voice. Mercury begins its retrograde cycle on March 22 at 17 Aries. This is a three week event that occurs four times a year. Not a cause for concern. I typically give myself more time to get where I am going and allow myself more time for reflection and review. We can take time to reviewing how instinctually think and behave and see how we feel about our instinctual reactions. More than anything, Pisces wants to merge with all that is. It wants to be the drop amongst all the other drops in the ocean. It wants to feel at one with All That IS sometimes human existence can feel wan and pale in comparison. At the same time, it fears dissolution and the idea that its individuality could be lost in the process. As one wizard famously wrote, it fears being the “hole in the donut.” And we are here to have a human experience. The time we are here can sometimes feel long. But it is really a drop in the bucket in relation to eternity. So, no pressure, with the feeling of floating and staring up at a sunny or starry sky, how do you want to feel? What do you feel like doing today, as a human? What emotional radiation would you like to emanate? How can you feel good in the skin you are wearing for this blip in time? Relax, float downstream, no struggle, just being and emanating pure You. That’s the Starting and the Ending of it. And the In Between that is the Life The Pisces fish swim in two different directions- one not seeing the other. We could muse on what two things those fish are swimming toward – companionship/solitude, merging with Source/individuality, the mysterious depths/the sunshiney surface. As you soak in your salty sea/bath/pool/tears the Pisces new Moon, ponder a bit on the polarities that have been present this astrological year for you. This reflection may lead to revelation and refinement of dreams wishes hopes and desires the tide will deliver in the new year to come. The beautiful opposition of the Virgo full Moon to the Pisces Sun brings the divine into the day to day. It reminds us of our eternal union with Source. It highlights the fact that we are more than our physical form— ephemeral, fleeting, unpredictable— like the waves. Water and earth make beautiful bedfellows. They rub each other raw. They smooth away the rough edges of ego, separation and the clunkiness of the human mind. The Moon is in Mutable, Earthy Virgo, sixth sign of the Zodiac. Like Pisces, it is a transitional archetype. Virgo pauses and reflects at the halfway point around the wheel to clean house. It will ask what bits that drives are no longer useful or relevant in our day to day. Are the thoughts and habits, beliefs and ambitions still serving me? How do they feel now? When consciously or unconsciously adopted there may have been a good reason at the time, but we may well have outgrown some of our modus operandi. Virgo is efficient and Virgo likes to have ways and means that are useful. This Full Moon asks us to consider shedding what no longer serves our lives in an efficient, useful manner. I am not saying to jettison all of the pretty baubles. I am saying, jettison that which ways you down- mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The key is not to get too bogged down in WHY was I doing this and so for so long? HOW could I have gotten so apparently sidetracked? A full Moon is a completion point. What are you done with? That is a snare that won’t necessarily help with the streamlining process and it could waylay it entirely. Focus on what dreams wishes hopes and desires suit my current day to day life and what makes me feel most optimistic and at ease so that I can swim through my life with ease, like I’m wearing amazing flippers and the current is on my side? The full Moon is also a point at which we rest in the completion and bask in the power of the Moon. Not everything is in action. In exhalation is just as important as inhalation. Pisces is the twelfth and final sign of the zodiac. We are completing our astrological year. Mercury Venus and Neptune are currently joining the Sun in Pisces. Pisces rules the dream state, so pay special attention to those dreams – both night and day- at the moment. Pisces embodies the energy of all the signs, so if you don’t drift too close to the rocks of oblivion: depression, drunkenness, despair, you can get to the place where the Source that knows every bit of you can reveal to you what you need to know. We all have this ability to connect with wisdom. It’s that voice that says, “go this route to work today.” “Call that old friend.” “Why not post that artwork on social media.” “Bring an umbrella.” Listening to and following intuition in the day to day of life enhances and strengthens our direct connection with Source. It feels magical when it starts to help time after time and we find we can depend on it as a best friend. But it is our birthright and it is a relationship that can become part of our daily routine. When we clear out the distracting noises and Siren songs of our daily routines, the connection to the still voice without n is strengthened. The Pisces/ Virgo axis is powerful because it want to bring our connection to Source into the every day – to make it a real and useful and helpful guide in our daily lives. The Pisces/Virgo axis is Mutable and wants to transform. We are always in the process of changing and mutating- cooking, eating, and digesting food; cutting, washing, drying and styling our hair; switching channels of our thoughts til we find one that feels more wasteful, more graceful, more hopeful.
