AQUARIUS NEW MOON 2023
Happy Lunar New Year! The first new Moon of 2023 is on 21 January 01 degree 32 minutes Aquarius. Mercury resumed forward motion on 18 January. Uranus goes direct at 14 degrees Taurus on 23 January. Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius- so perfect timing for the new Moon. Of course, we also have a new beginning with the Lunar New Year of the Water Rabbit. The rabbit is associated with longevity, peace and prosperity. We can look for new ways of finding the happy qualities invoked by the rabbit. Aquarius is the rebel of the zodiac and it likes to find its own way of doing things. The next couple of weeks is a good time to allow new ideas, new ways of thinking or to try NOT thinking. Hah hah. All of the planets are moving in forward motion once Uranus goes direct. We may find it easier paths to direction, solutions, and the energy to take action. Aquarius likes to serve the common good. Its polarity- Leo- is developing the creative self. Wherever we are on that trajectory at the moment we can consider what is best for ourselves and what is best for the whole. We can view the full spectrum from “I Will” in Leo to “I Know” in Aquarius. Aquarius takes the big picture seen during Capricorn and internalizes it into useful information and direction. We are nearing the end of the astrological year. Aquarius is the 11th sign. It is wild and it is wise. It can return from the maelstrom with a lightning bolt of truth it has snatched from the sky in the rainstorm. Be aware of wild ideas. They may have been sent just to you as your awareness is aligned and ready to receive it. They may just be there to expand the mind – not necessarily to be acted upon. Discernment and wild-eyed genius go hand in hand. Grounding is key during Aquarius so that we can be a lightning rod to receive next level information. Run any guidance through your internal detector. Does this information sit well with me? For it fit with my values? We can also run ideas by our friends – Aquarius rules friendship and community. Aquarius makes a natural square to Taurus and it’s ruler, Uranus, will be direct in Taurus. Do my ideas and actions serve the greater good? Do my ideas and actions serve me and my greater good? Into the mix – the new Moon is in an out of sign conjunction to Pluto. It’s a reminder that even as we zoom toward the age of Aquarius — Pluto is still in authoritarian Capricorn. Power. Authority. Rules. Schedules. Structures. Governments. Here’s a gentle reminder that our relationship with personal Power and the powers that be is ongoing. We still on the day- to - day are investigating the relationship between personal power and authority. At this new Aquarius Moon it is a good time to keep an eye on our personal relationships with technology. This will be an ongoing theme with Pluto preparing to spend about the next 20 years or so in Aquarius. (Reminder- after entering Aquarius in March, Pluto will go retrograde on May 2nd and remain back in Capricorn from June until after the end of 2023. Capricorn transformation and power is not over yet!) With the Aquarius new Moon we consider: How does technology serve us. How does it empower us? Where are we giving our power and time over to technology. It needs to be an ongoing discussion each one of us has with ourselves. To be conscious of the relationship with devices/information and their use to us is key now and as thing speedily change. In the meantime open the windows! Let in the fresh new year energy. Do the rituals that support new and happy beginnings of all kinds. Welcome the Rabbit into your life and give it a pat and some sweet fresh carrots. Eat delicious food and allow the magic of time moving on to transform and empower. Happy Lunar New Year! 🐇 All the best to you. Lydia www.soulastro.com .[email protected]

CANCER FULL MOON
The first full moon of 2023 is on January 2023 6:08 PM EST at 16 degrees 21 minutes Cancer. We have a Cancer full Moon focusing on our internal emotional life. Mercury retrograde in Capricorn is conjunct the Sun and directly opposing the full Moon. Mercury is retrograde until January 19th. Mars is retrograde in Gemini until January 12th. If you aren’t feeling New Year vibes that is understandable. Sometimes that burst of new energy doesn’t come when the clock strikes 12 on January 1. The first few weeks of this year can be well spent finishing up goals and projects, doing a clear out and taking time to rest and reflect. The Lunar New Year is on January 22nd. This coincides with the Aquarius new Moon on the 21st. New Moons are for new beginnings, so that would be a good time to make a list or what is wanted in the new year. In the next two weeks it is a great time to finish up projects that we still want to complete. The ones we don’t can be cleared out to leave space for the new. A retrograde Mercury and Mars invite us to see what is worth completing and what can be released, recycled, composted, etc. Not all fermenting projects make for good eating. Not all acquaintanceships warm the heart. We don’t have to embark on every path we have outlined in our minds. Capricorn Sun asks us to claim our authority over the structure of our daily lives, over our schedules, plans, ideas and ideals. Now is a good time to winnow down what we want from what we don’t. We can make mental and physical yes, no, and maybe piles – of plans, of projects, of relationships and of habits. The Cancer Capricorn axis has to do with parenting. It is a nice day to nurture ourselves as a kind parent would do. Soothing words, nice warm drinks, a lovely bath and a story with a happy ending can be just the ticket. This will set the clear space to hop into the year of the Rabbit at the new Moon. With retrograde Mercury opposing the new Moon, we can gain insight and clarity on how our emotional body is guiding our thoughts, ideas and intentions. This is very helpful because the inner – that feels good, that feels weird, that feels scary – but in a way I’d like to explore, that feels terrible in a way I would not like to experience— helps us to clarify what we do want in our lives. The Moon and the emotions can lead the way. With Mars retrograde in Gemini – which rules the nervous system- our physical wiring will inform us of what we do and don’t want – a moment at a time. This is a great time to tune into our own emotions and energy body, relaxing enough to let feelings and thoughts arise naturally to be felt and seen. Write some questions to the Higher Self that knows us so well – because it is us. Ask whatever you want to know. If you’re not sure try asking “what do I need to know right now?” “What do I want right now?” “What would be my next right action?” Have the pen ready for what comes. You can do it as a meditation in the morning or a note written before going to sleep at night. You can write the questions -and answers- with your non dominant hand for added insight. Uranus in Taurus also goes direct at the New Moon on the 22nd. Uranus rules the Higher Mind and is the higher octave of Mercury. Taurus retrograde Uranus clues us in to deeper thoughts and ideas that help to refine what is valuable to us. How can we spend our precious time in a way that most suits us on all levels. How can we feed ourselves with ideas, habits and actual food that delight, nourish and serve. What is most delicious to us? Can we move toward more of those foods, experiences, feelings, relationships and practices. Preparing for the journey on all levels is an integral part of embarking on the journey. It is all a part of the trip. Happy 2023. Love Lydia www.soulastro.com [email protected] |
