We have a Capricorn new Moon giving us a cardinal opportunity for new beginnings just in time for the start of 2017. The best part of new beginnings, I find, is having a look at what's gone on in the past year or so. I love to have a look at all of the accomplishments that have come to fruition thus far. It shows me, as I embark anew, day in and day out, that things do progress and evolve and work out. For me, an accomplishment can be getting up and dressed and out the door. It can be getting dinner made and having a laugh. Accomplishment can be adding something great to my routine and letting go of routines that no longer work. If I am grateful for doing the day to day – the natural trine of Capricorn to Virgo, then, the structure of my life allows me to let in the things that I may consider to be more momentous or scary or challenging. The Capricorn new moon is conjunct Mercury retrograde at nearly the same degree. Mercury will return forward motion on January 8. So we have some more time for reflection. As Capricorn is concerned with authority – personal and otherwise, it is a time to look at authority in our own lives – where we use it, where we give it away, where we think we have it or don't. We can look at how we act in this life. When we acted, when we didn't, when we wish we had or hadn't. These are all Capricorn reflections. Capricorn rules time and it rules fear. So it is also time to look at the breadth and depth of courage in our lives. Our own and the courage of those we watch and perhaps admire. Many are sad about the passing of so many daring favorite humans in 2016. David Bowie was a leading edge Capricorn. One way to learn to be brave is to see how a hero dared to express their personal authority. We can reflect on what that expression can look like when we dare to be and do and express. So, we have a perfect time at the turning of the year for the Capricorn new Moon. We can reflect on the foundations on which we've built our lives. We can look at authority – our own and that of the structures of society. We can look at our work and how we spend our time. When did we act and when did we hang back? When were we brave and when were we frightened? Sometimes hanging back is the perfect response. Timing is key in all things. The opportunity is here to move through the earth plane in some new ways. We can carry ourselves into 2017 with renewed strength – exuding the energy of a self that understands its own unique power and amazing ever- expanding abilities. Much love to us all. We have our final full Moon of the year in Gemini. The mutable full Moon occurs as part of a grand air trine to Jupiter in Libra and Mars in Aquarius. Grand trines tend to be points of ease. Air signs concern the mind, communication and information. The Sun is in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius. Sagittarius is concerned with our truth as experienced through the development of our intuition. Gemini is logical and linear and Sag is intuitive. With Mars in Aquarius our truth may come in a jolt or a flash to the physical system when we hear something internally or externally that rings most true. The Sun trines Uranus in Aries which highlights the physical experience of the higher mind at this time. With the moon’s trine to Jupiter in Libra we may feel the bigger wind blowing truth and optimism to us in regard to how we relate to ourselves and others. Again, all needs to be filtered through the light of our internal guide, our own intuition. GEMINI likes information for its own sake - like buying books we may never read. Sagittarius wants us to know what's inside the library and see which truths the books hold for us. We can then distill all of that information to an essence, a medicine meant just for us. This medicine is our own because we have found it by learning our own physical, mental, emotional, spiritual system. The Full Moon opposes Saturn who is conjunct the Sun. Saturn gives form to our knowledge and our intuition. Through time. Through exploration, expansion, and experience. Let the wind wipe all the old slates clear. Let it fill the lungs. Listen to the truth that your own breath creates. Information is only helpful if we understand how to use it. On a mundane note, Mercury turns retrograde on December 19 so you may want to get holiday packages in the post before then. All the best, Lydia www.soulastro.com [email protected] |
