CANCER FULL MOON 2018
Happy Solstice! The Cancer Full Moon is at 0 degrees. It occurs the day that the Sun enters Capricorn. Cancer and Capricorn are Cardinal signs- it is an initiatory energy. Zero degrees of any sign has an enormous amount of Oomph. It is extra oomph as we also have the Solstice energy. The wheel of the year is at a crucial point. We have the culmination of the longest light or darkness depending on the hemisphere, and the deepening of dark or increase of light is imminent. We are always moving, our planet Earth is always moving, the other planets are always moving. As we have a moment of Full Moon, it will then begin to wane. We have a culmination at the full moon from the last new Moon in Sagittarius on 6 December. There is also a culmination, at this Full Moon from the last eclipse cycle with the Solar Eclipse at 18 degrees Leo on August 10th. We can look at the last few months and how things have unfolded for us, creatively, since then. A new eclipse cycle begins with the New Moon in Capricorn on January 5, 2019. It’s nice that we have a culmination point so close to the Solstice and to the end of the calendar year. Each ending flows into a new beginning, but rarely is it a hard stop. Most things in life are variegated and meld one to the next. With a Cancer Full Moon we have good access to our emotional body and how emotions inform our intuition, and in turn, our actions and choices. The trine at the Full Moon of Venus in Scorpio to Neptune in Pisces brings our hopes, dreams, wishes and desires into the here and now in a more palpable way. I don’t tend to make resolutions, but I do make lists at the turn of each year if things I’d like to do, see and experience. With a light touch I refer to the list throughout the year and make notes and adjustments. This is a good time to feel into what I liked about 2018, and what I’d like to feel and see and do in the coming year. I make lists of what went on over the course of the year — daily life stuff – the new recipe I loved all summer, the new art supplies I bought- to bigger stuff – astrology talks given, connections made with old friends, trips to new places… I take into account how the experiences and acquisitions and interactions felt to me. In the new year, as my life carries on, what would I like more of? What can I release and leave to the rear view mirror? Where did things come with ease? What felt like waaaay too much pushing or pulling to achieve? Was it actually an achievement, then? The full Moon in Cancer and Sun in Capricorn axis is a powerful and important one. Cancer rules the stomach — it will feel queasy as an indicator that I might be ingesting a food, a conversation, or an experience that doesn’t serve me. Cancer also rules the breasts in the physical body, so I am in tune with nurturing on all levels at this full Moon. Capricorn rules Time and authority and karma and the structure of all things, including government, and how we govern ourselves. Cancer and Capricorn is the father/mother energy and the female/male energy and the whole spectrum they encompass. We feel into how our schedules and time spent are working for our well-being. We are met with the expansion and contraction of time in our daily lives and the idea of the span of the life. Mundane actions can be observed to give clarity on our relationship to or own unfoldment. Look at the drink you are drinking and as you drink, feel the liquid, Cancer energy, flowing into and informing the physical vessel, the body — Capricorn. The liquid nourishes and hydrated the body. The body gives a vessel for the liquid and puts the liquid to use — Capricorn. Cancer informs fluidly. Capricorn uses resources to fuel human life on the earth plane. At the full Cancer Moon we feel into what and how we are ingesting ideas, food and experiences and we can check their effect on our human experience on all levels. We can use that review to see how we’d like our structure of life to be formed moving forward — Capricorn. The zero degree Sun and full Moon gives a whole lot of new beginning energy to our musings, our year-end reviews and our hopes, wishes, and dreams for the year ahead. Happy Solstice. The wheel of the year turns and more is revealed in perfect timing. Much love to you.
