The New Moon is always a time for emptying out and allowing some time and space for resting before beginning again.
What we are releasing depends, in part, on where the New Moon is. We have, today, a Cancer New Moon. All signs are ruled by a certain planet and Cancer is ruled by the Moon. So, this is the new Mooniest of new Moons. Cancer rules our emotional bodies and our tummies. Cancer is also in charge of our family of origin and the ego bodies we have built in this life. In a Cancer new Moon it is completely appropriate to have floods of tears or gales of laughter and all that is in between. The lessons of Cancer regard learning to be responsible for our own emotional bodies and letting others be responsible for their own emotional business. The Moon is the Mother and the New Moon is not visible to us. That visible connection to archetypal nurture and emotional sustenance can feel lost to us, especially at the Cancer New Moon. So we go within for the light we hold inside that does nurture and sustain us. We are coaxed inward to the cozy light we hold for our precious selves. The cancer new Moon invites us to feel at home within. Whatever allows for emotional release can be especially highlighted at this time. We may experience, at this time, emotions that had been hidden from us, as Neptune, ruler of the waters of the soul, and so, tied to the waters of our emotions, has recently commenced a retrograde cycle in Pisces, its home sign. Dreams hopes desires memories and the emotions around all of them, may resurface at this time. Imagine a REALLY low tide that reveals the hulls of ships and the statues submerged for millennia on the oceans floor – revealed and available to us for examination. Practicing an art form is beneficial at this time as Neptune is the higher octave of art-loving Venus. Art helps to reveal what has been hidden. Our souls and our psyches are in a different place, evolutionarily, than they were the last time we saw these things so we may experience them in a different way. It's like seeing a wishlist we made at six and now, reviewing it as an adult, we may have myriad emotions about the dreams that were or were not fulfilled along the way. We may have feelings for our sweet historic self who made that list and had the subsequent sweet and maybe not so sweet experiences feelings hopes and desires that bring us to present. It is a time to honor and release some of the emotions and dreams that anchor us to some versions of the past that allow room for the matured visions feelings hopes wishes and desires that we choose and have drawn to us and are gifted from now moving forward. Now, crabs don't always move straight ahead. So this period of reflection release thought and emotion experienced at this new Moon may move from side to side and forward and backward in time as we have a reminder of a feeling at age five then reviewed through the lens of age 50. We may see how we want life to be at 70 seen through the emotional body of the twelve year old self. Water signs can be multidimensional and time is not always a straight line with Cancer.. Allow the mind a safe space to float free of linear shackles and see and feel and be. It is also just about the midway point through the year, so we may spend some time reviewing the year so far and looking to what remains. And, of course, as the Sun is now in Cancer as well, we can bring the fruit of all this mooning about back to the corporeal, back to the day-to-day heart soul and mind of our lives.
